Conversations with the little one.

With the boys in school all day, Molly and I have a lot of time together.  We share lunch together and eat like princesses…pinkies up.  We run errands together which usually results in Molly talking Mom into a treat.  But, the best part of our days together are the conversations.  I continue to be amazed at the four year old perspective (and to be honest, since this is my last few months with the 4 year old perspective, I will miss it dearly).  Here are a few of the conversations I have been lucky enough to be a part of over the past week.

“Mom, is Ms. C (her dance class assistant) old?” “No, Molly.  She is a junior in high school, so like Jesse’s age, sort of.” “Can she drive?” “Yes, she can drive.” “Well then she is old. Is Ms. J (her dance teacher) old?” “Umm, I think she is my age or a little younger.”  “Oh, so she is totally old.”

“Molly, why are you covering your face?” (we are in the car with the windows rolled up and air conditioning on) “That guy in that car over there is smoking and I don’t want to die.”  “You can’t die if he is smoking in his car.”  “Mom, don’t you know that smoking can kill you?”

"Mom, do you know why the BlackEyed Peas are my favorite singer?" "No, why?" "Because they played at the Packer game on my birthday when the Packers beat the Stealers and won the Super Bowl. It was the best birthday ever (she has had 4) and they played."

“Mom, do boy birds have a wienie?”  “Umm, I don’t know what sorts of parts make a bird a boy. But the word is penis, Molly.”  “I know but I just like to call it a wienie, it sounds better.” (and that is what having older brothers does!)

“Mom, am I the prettiest?”  “Of course you are, why do you ask?” “Well (a friend) said she is the prettiest and so I am not.”  “Well, what do you think?  Do you think she is prettier than you?”  “No.” “Well, there you go.  You know, you are the prettiest girl I have ever seen.”  “Except you Mommy!” “Oh, thank you Molly!”
