An amendment

I need to amend my previous post...

Although it exhausts me at times to have such deep conversations early in the morning, I am grateful I am having them with my kids.  I am extremely grateful that I get to drive them to school each and every morning; because, our time in the car forces conversations we would not otherwise have.  I know they enjoy their afternoon time on the bus with their friends.  And God knows, those rides have spurred their own conversations!  But, the time in the morning has always been for us.  I get to be the one who drops them at the door of school with words of encouragement and love.  I get to hear their concerns about the day ahead.  I get to try to help them process something they heard the day before that they didn't understand or didn't like.  I also get to hear what they think about things and why they are forming the opinions they are forming.

I do plenty of complaining about our crazy morning schedule and how hard it is to be a stay-at-home mom.  Sometimes I even dare to wish I could just wave good-bye on the corner as a bus finished their morning journey to school.  Or even drop them off at Kid's Company so I could do something more important with my day.  But secretly, deep down, I really cherish our time together each morning.  They grow so fast that I am glad someday I will be able to sit down at my computer and read these blog posts to remember how it was they turned into such amazing adults...one (sometimes painful) day at a time.
