The Last Day of School

It is the last day of school!

Todd asked me last night if I remembered what it felt like on the eve of the last day of school.  I really don't remember.  He implored, you don't remember the feelings of impending freedom, the excitement over knowing you had three months to do what you want, the thrill of three months of fun and sun?  Nope, doesn't ring a bell.

Maybe my memories are clouded by the fact that I am a stay-at-home mom and summer means more hours with more kids.  I love my kids to death, but three full months of entertaining them when I am not an electronic device is a bit scary.  My feelings of freedom and excitement will come on the eve of the first day of school!  But as it stands, I am really excited for three months of no lunch packing, three months of hanging out in the morning, three months with less rushing all day long...three months of fun and sun?  Yes, this summer we will have that too!  Because the whole house selling/building/renting adventure has landed us in a home with beach access onto Prior Lake for the summer.  Instead of crying, "we're bored," when I am not entertaining them, my kids ask if we can head to the beach.  Maybe this summer I too can be a little bit excited for the last day of school.
