It's Official!

She is 4!

Turns out the celebrating went so fast that it was like it didn't happen. We counted down since, well last February! It seemed like she was going to be 3 FOREVER! She knew that starting Thursday, her birthday celebrations began. Thursday finally came and she was in disbelief that the day had arrived. "Is today tomorrow?" she asked me. And finally it was! We got to bring fruit snacks to Preschool and get a special crown and everything! It is so wonderful to be the birthday girl!

Friday we hosted 7 of Molly’s friends for a Pinkalicious Pizza Party. Could anything be better than pizza, pink cupcakes, friends dressed in pink, and presents?

Following that we had Grandpa Mike and Grandma Julie for a dinner of Mac&Cheese and hot dogs. They also got to share a polka dot Target cake with sparkling candles. They brought Molly the much desired Flynn Rider doll!

Saturday, NOTHING. Big disappointment!

Sunday, was family time with donuts and presents. The brothers were A LOT of help opening the presents and being sure the cool ones were played with first and the girly ones were put together to engineering specifications. Colin picked out earrings for Molly. Zach picked out a Buzz Lightyear Toy Story Barbie. Daddy picked out a Packer’s shirt. I picked out a Playmobile Princess set and A Bucket of Beads. At the end of all the opening, I told Molly to say thank you to everyone. She said Thank you and then jumped into my lap and said “Mommy, I love you so. Thank you for the donuts, but did you get me any presents?” Apparently nothing compairs to Packer shirts and Barbie dolls.

Then we had a visit from Molly’s birthday buddy, Brad (who had no 4 anywhere in his birthday number) and his Bat-son’s, Josh and Ben, and his most lovely wife and professional swing pusher, Krista, for some pre-Super Bowl taunting (they are Steelers fans, but we still like them). Molly graciously shared her candles with Brad and then ate cake quick and continued to play Batman with Josh. She has missed her Batgirl status this winter since our outdoor play is limited by early darkness and cold.

Then, it was on to Superbowl watching with the family (no party this year, just watching with great interest as OUR Packers played in the BIG game). Molly's night ended at the half time show and she was asleep before the Pack started their decline in the second half. However, she was thrilled to learn the next morning that the Pack won, the ultimate birthday present for…who? Molly or Daddy?

Now we begin the countdown to five! She did tell me that 5 is almost the same as 4 so I should be fine with her getting a bit older. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that 5 is a BIG birthday. It isn't long afterward that she goes to school every day and our time of being joined at the hip will come to an end. Mommy may just shed a little tear on her next birthday!
