Preschool Art...what could be better?
Molly drew this chalk drawing for her Daddy to welcome him home after he spent 10 days away from home at a training. She missed him to pieces and couldn't wait for him to return to his regularly scheduled life. This picture was drawn to greet him as he drove into his spot in the garage.
I love this stage of drawing. Developmentally between age 4 and 5, children start drawing people with more body parts. They add bodies, arms, feet, hands, hair and noses to what use to be a circle, two dots for eyes, a line for a mouth, and two lines for legs (drawn in lenth for how tall the person is). The next stage will bring fingers and toes, but I think I like the circle hands and feet part of development best. In all of these pictures, everyone smiles despite their bad hair. Their clothes are always colorful. They have cute little button noses. I am not sure what happened to Todd's pants in this picture. I will leave that up to interpretation because this is art afterall. But really, for a parent this is better than any Van Gogh or Monet.
