1991.

In 1991, I was almost an adult.  I started my senior year of high school that year.  I was making plans for a glorious future.  So as June 2012 approaches, I have to face the fact that I have been out of high school 20 years.  I don't feel that old, but I am.

I remember my parent's 20 year high school reunion.  They seemed old through my teenage eyes, and I could not imagine what life would have been like in 1967.  Seriously, we talked about the 1960s in history class.  I try to remember that perspective when I think about how my kids must see me.  The music from the 80s and early 90s is classic rock music to them.  The thought of the past century makes the decades of my childhood sound even more ancient.  I mean 20 years is double Colin's entire life!

This morning Molly and I ran errands.  As we drove around town, she began to explain to me how "old" the buildings around our house are.  Keep in mind that the area we live in started to build up in 1997.  The last houses were build around 2002 and the retail around 2004.  I still consider that a newer development.  However, she explained to me that the buildings around us are "super, duper old" (not just old).  She went on to explain "I mean they were built in like 1991.  Can you even think of anything older than that?"

Yes, as a matter of fact I can.
