A Decade

A decade ago my life changed forever.  Ten years ago today, I became a mom.  I had no idea what that 7 lb 10 oz bundle of joy was going to do to my life.  And now this day may be the anniversary of my motherhood, but it is also the Day of Colin.  Today we celebrate the life of the little boy who has become such an amazing young man.

Colin is my baby.  Even after a decade, I still see the little boy who smiled up at me with such loving eyes from the crib in his perfectly decorated, color coordinated nursery.  But now he is a young man with a life of his own.  He no longer sleeps in a perfectly decorated, color coordinated nursery but he will still smile up at me with loving eyes.  Sometimes he also looks up at me with scornful eyes, sarcastic eyes, rolling eyes, playful eyes, mad eyes, disappointed eyes, joking eyes, laughing eyes, and sad eyes.  He may no longer be that tiny, helpless infant, but I will always think of how much I loved him at first sight.  In ten years, that love has grow exponentially so that it has become immeasurable.  

Colin is thrilled to turn double digits.  Getting older comes with privileges and freedoms.  He loves the attention a birthday brings him.  We celebrate this year with a sleepover and a trip to the science museum, because big kids don't have little kid parties anymore.  We celebrate this year with extra privileges and freedoms.  We celebrate all that Colin has become.  And we asked him the same questions we asked Molly several months ago so we can remember who he is and what he likes one decade into his life.

One food that I really dislike is: tomatoes

My favorite sport to play: lacrosse or skiing

My favorite thing to learn about in school is: social studies

My favorite color is: lime green

My favorite flavor of ice cream is: Mint Chocolate Chip

My favorite game to play is: Minecraft

My favorite toy: the computer

My favorite thing to do outside: play lacrosse or draw with chalk

My favorite season of the year is: summer

My favorite holiday is: my birthday

My favorite place to visit is: Grandma and Grandpa’s house

My current favorite song is: I’m Sexy and I Know It by LMFAO

The best show on television is: Johnny Test

The book I reading right now is: The Hunger Games Trilogy

If I had one wish it would be: a perfect life

The absolute best thing about turning 10 is: I am double digits

If I could go anywhere in the world, I’d go to: Disney World

If I was going to complete a dare, it would be to: Bunge Jump

The phrase I like to say most often is: Phooey

Something funny that happened to me is:  Gavin C jumped off the slide and landed on my shoulders

The thing I do the most awesomely is: climb

When I was little, I used to: play outside more

When I grow up, I’m going to become: a video game designer

Three words the describe me are: smart, friendly, lucky

My best friend is: Gavin

My best memory is: Zachy swearing at me (I think because he got in trouble for it!)
