To catch up...

Oh my...what a week!

Here is the short version of what I have l left to update on...

THE SNAKE...
So on day three of spring break, I decided to clean out the garden.  We were in the process of getting the house ready to sell and I had to pay a bit of attention to the outside.  The weather was great, so I thought it would be the best day to work outside.  I picked weeds and decided to tackle the layer of leaves we put in the vegetable garden for winter.  As I was cleaning out the leaves, I found...

A snake!  In the garden...just sitting there getting some sun.  Zach was thrilled and captured him and held him as his pet for several hours until we released him back into the garden to live a full and happy life.  We haven't seen the snake since.

THE PLAYDATE...I spent the rest of spring break, every minute I could find, cleaning and organizing my house.  I got pretty crabby.  But the kids didn't stop from complaining about all I wasn't doing for them.  I finally gave in and allowed them to each have a friend over in the middle of the week.  I also entertained half the neighborhood that day.  I took 8 children to the park...eight!  The kids had a blast!  The house was set back at least a day with a broken lamp and a completely destroyed basement.  Plus, who knew one kid could drink an entire box of juice pouches in one afternoon!

THE ZOO...Then on Friday, I took my kids to the zoo to see the Farm Babies.  It turned out to be one of the worst decisions of my life because half of the Metro Area was at the zoo on Good Friday to see the Farm Babies.  We left the zoo much earlier than anticipated and no one was upset about that!  We decided it would be more fun to meet Grandma and Grandpa McLaughlin at Ring Mountain for ice cream than to spend time at the crowded zoo.  And that was a smart decision!

EGGS...The highlight of spring break might have been the egg decorating.  The kids LOVE the Easter holiday because it brings egg decorating.  This year we bought egg decorating pens and I was amazed at how cool the eggs turned out.  Definitely works of art this year!

EASTER KITES...When Easter arrived, we played it cool.  The day was low key and very enjoyable.  Lots of candy and time with family is always a highlight, but this year we added kite flying.  I had found large kites at Costco and got one for each kid.  I thought we could take kite flying in the windy Savage North to new heights (pun intended on that one).  The kids had a blast with their new kites, but I decided that kite flying is something you only enjoy as a kid (because you never had to walk into the pond to retrieve the lost kite when you were a kid...that was Mom or Dad's job and now I am that Mom!).

And just like that spring break came to and end.  It was time to go back to school and finish our last two months of school.  It was time to put our house on the market and see if anyone would love it as much as we do.  And we had no idea what the next week had in store for us!
