Lacrosse

Lacrosse has become our life.

I am coming to get you.

Colin played spring lacrosse which started in March and ended in May.  Zach started lacrosse this year in early May.  Colin began summer lacrosse one day after spring lacrosse ended.  I volunteered to be the team manager for Colin's spring and summer teams.  We spend 4 week nights at lacrosse each week, usually on two different fields.  When we aren't at lacrosse, I am at home on the computer organizing something for lacrosse.

This weekend Colin had his first tournament of the summer.  So, we spent all weekend on lacrosse as well.  The boys lost all three games since half of the kids on his summer team are completely new to lacrosse and these were the first three games they have ever played.  It was a hot weekend to be out playing just to loose, but it was amazing to see how those 10 new players really learned what they were doing quickly.  It is fun to watch Colin get better with each game too.

But what is most amazing is watching how quickly Zach picks up the game from just being around his brother.  Zach is fast and he seems to master the skills quicker than Colin did when he started.  Plus, he wants to practice all the time.  One morning I was cleaning up the breakfast dishes when I heard the boys talking behind me.  No sooner could I turn around then they were outside.  I found them in the driveway trying to perfect the catch, switch hand, throw drill from practice that week.  Zach insisted Colin practice with him at 8 AM!

Maybe they like the sport of lacrosse because Todd and I don't understand it.  So, we just sit on the sidelines and cheer for them.  We can't really coach them in the car on the way home, because we don't know what to say besides good game.  Whatever the reason they like it, it is really fun to watch them even when they aren't the best team out there.  I guess there could be worse ways to spend our lives these days.

A couple more pictures of Colin from the tournament...

Go Colin!

On the move

Not the biggest on the team, but has a lot of heart.

Who is going to get that ball?
