It is Pumpkin Time! Tomorrow we celebrate Halloween. For my kids, Halloween isn't a one day celebration. It is a month long preparation starting with decorations and costume ideas in early October. Then we visit the Pumpkin Patch. For us, the Pumpkin Patch has become an annual family event at Tweet's Pumpkin Patch in Byron, Minnesota. The place is more of a farm amusement park than a pumpkin patch. So you can imagine my kids look forward to this day every year!
After several hours playing on the big slides, going through the corn maze and racing through the play structures, we get ready to pick those perfect pumpkins!
The kids stop to let me take a picture while they try to decide which pumpkins will make the perfect jack-o-lanterns.
It turns out some pumpkins are very heavy!
Then carving day arrives! Gutting the pumpkin is thrilling work for some of us...
and dainty work for others.
Next we pick the design and transfer that to our pumpkin (it takes a lot of concentration).
Finally we carve (if you are old enough and brave enough)!
The final products look creepy and bright on a dark, dark night.
Happy Halloween everyone!
